Canadiens unveil vintage-inspired jersey for 2026 Heritage Classic
The jersey features a retro logo and an off-white colour scheme for the outdoor game against the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 25.
MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have unveiled the jersey they will wear for the 2026 NHL Heritage Classic against the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 25.
The solid red jersey features a vintage, stylized off-white colour and an older version of the team's iconic logo, similar to the one used for the 2016 Winter Classic.
"The Canadiens posted a video of the players' reaction to the jersey online, and they had positive comments, but Cole Caufield seemed more eager to play his first outside game than to check out the new jersey, which is understandable," according to reporting from The Hockey News.

It also bears the Heritage Classic logo, which includes a Tim Hortons logo, a maple leaf and a new addition of moose antlers. The maple leaf has been part of every Heritage Classic, while the moose antlers are a fresh addition.
The NHL shield and Fanatics logo are also on the jersey, but the team avoided putting any advertisement on the front.
The Jets' uniform, unveiled simultaneously, pays homage to the franchise's look from the 1980s and '90s, featuring a throwback logo and a special felt crest with chain stitching. The "Heritage Classic" name appears on the hem with a streaking jet graphic.
The game will be played at Princess Auto Stadium, the home of the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
This will be the eighth edition of the NHL Heritage Classic, an event that began in the 2003 season when the Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers played at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
Commonwealth Stadium also hosted the previous Heritage Classic in 2023 between the Oilers and Calgary Flames.
Montreal has a 2-2-0 record in outdoor games in the modern era. The team won the first Heritage Classic 4-3 over Edmonton in 2003, lost 4-0 to Calgary in 2011, and beat Boston 5-1 in Foxborough in 2016.
Phillip Danault is the only current Canadien who played in the team's last outdoor game, a 3-0 loss to Ottawa in the 2017 Centennial Classic.
This will be the Jets' third outdoor contest and first since 2019. The team has a 1-1-0 record in its previous two games.
The 2026 Heritage Classic is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25.
