TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts have listed quarterback Chad Kelly as questionable for Saturday's key game against the B.C. Lions.

Kelly, the CFL's leading passer, did not practise on Tuesday due to an injury to his right hand and was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

"The Toronto Argonauts have listed franchise quarterback Chad Kelly as questionable for Saturday’s game against the B.C. Lions," 3downnation.com reported.

The injury was a surprise as Kelly took every snap in the Argos' win in Winnipeg last week.

According to multiple reports from TSN earlier in the week, Kelly is expected to play despite the injury.

The Argos do not need to provide clarity on his status until depth charts are due on Friday, with the possibility of pushing it further if he is named a game-time decision.

Kelly leads the league with 5,067 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and 24 interceptions this season.

He has completed 70.9 percent of his passes over 15 starts and has also rushed 29 times for 183 yards and three scores.

The 32-year-old has played 60 career regular-season CFL games over five years with the Boatmen, completing 69.0 percent of his passes for 11,938 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions.

He has won two Grey Cups and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2023.

If Kelly cannot play, veteran Nick Arbuckle is next on the depth chart.

Arbuckle was the starter for the Argos' win in the 111th Grey Cup and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Boatmen to a 41-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Arbuckle played 15 regular-season games in 2025 while Kelly was out due to injury and completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.

The Toronto Argonauts (9-6) will host the B.C. Lions (8-6) on Saturday, October 3, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EDT at BMO Field.

The Argos are trying to chase down the Montreal Alouettes (11-3) for first place in the East Division.

The Lions are tied for second in a tight West Division and are coming off a win over Saskatchewan.

The Argonauts extended their winning streak to four games with a victory over Winnipeg.

The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, and Crave in Canada and CFL+ internationally.

Radio listeners can tune in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver and TSN 1050 in Toronto.
