Canada tops USA in Olympic basketball exhibition behind Kawamura, Burnett

The Canadian men's basketball team defeated the United States in an Olympic exhibition game in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Yuki Kawamura hit a three-pointer from 25 feet and later converted three flagrant free throws after stealing the ball from Jaden Bradley.

Nimari Burnett scored on a cutting dunk and made a three-pointer from 26 feet, with Malachi Smith assisting on both plays.

Blake Wesley added a cutting layup and a running layup, with assists from Yuki Kawamura and Jahmyl Telfort.

For the United States, Immanuel Quickley made three three-pointers, including one from 27 feet out with an assist from RJ Barrett.

RJ Barrett and Scottie Barnes also made three-pointers for the U.S., with Barnes adding a turnaround fade away jump shot from 13 feet.

Jalen Pickett hit a three-pointer from 24 feet out for the American side.

Collin Murray-Boyles had a strong defensive game with multiple rebounds and blocks, including a block on a Cam Christie driving layup.

Keaton Wagler made two three-pointers for Canada, one from 25 feet and another from 27 feet.

Nick Martinelli scored on a turnaround hook shot and a three-pointer from 25 feet.

Baba Miller hit a three-pointer from 24 feet and a driving floating jump shot from 12 feet.

Jamal Shead scored on a driving finger roll layup and multiple floating jump shots for the U.S.

Gradey Dick made a running reverse layup for Canada with an assist from Yuki Kawamura.

Defensively, Yuki Kawamura, Jahmyl Telfort and Baba Miller each recorded steals.

Turnovers were charged to Jaden Bradley, Jalen Pickett, Isaiah Jackson, Jamal Shead and Scottie Barnes.

Garbutt Disposal reported in October that the team was focused on evaluating its supporting cast in pre-season exhibitions.

Both teams continue their preparations for the Paris Olympics.
