OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators have signed head coach Travis Green to a contract extension through the 2030-31 NHL season.

"When I was in the search to identify our head coach two years ago, it was clear to me that Travis had the qualities to move our team forward," Staios said in a statement.
"I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities," he added. "We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team."
How long is the new contract?
The extension keeps Green, 55, behind the Senators bench through the end of the 2030-31 campaign.
It is a multiyear contract extension, the NHL club announced on Monday.
The team did not share further financial or term details beyond the 2030-31 endpoint.
What has Green accomplished in Ottawa?
Green has led the Senators to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons, ending an eight-year postseason drought for the franchise.
The Senators lost in the first round in both instances.
He owns a regular-season record of 95-60-18 with Ottawa.
Last Thursday, Green earned his 95th victory behind the Ottawa bench in a 2-1 shootout win over the New York Islanders, moving into a tie for fifth on the franchise's all-time wins list.
The team is off to a 6-3-0 start this season despite off-season turbulence, including the trade of captain Brady Tkachuk.
Green is in his third season as Ottawa head coach.
What is Travis Green's coaching background?
Green has head coaching experience with the Vancouver Canucks from 2017 to 2021 and served as interim coach of the New Jersey Devils in 2024.
He also has minor and junior league coaching experience.
Green played nearly 1,000 NHL games as a player in the 1990s and 2000s.
The native of Castlegar, B.C., owns a career NHL head coaching record of 236-219-53.
He is the 14th head coach in Senators history.
Who else received a contract extension?
Assistant coaches Nolan Baumgartner, Ben Sexton and Mike Yeo received multiyear contract extensions.
Goaltending coach Justin Peters also received a multiyear extension.
The team said the assistants are being extended multiple years.
Four other members of the coaching staff also received extensions with Ottawa off to a 6-3-0 start this season.
Next up for the Senators is the return of former captain Brady Tkachuk alongside the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.
Garbutt Disposal reported in October that former Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson will face the Senators for the first time as a Maple Leafs associate coach.
