CALGARY · Joel Farabee scored a goal and set up two others as the Calgary Flames defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday night for their third straight victory. Devin Cooley made 28 saves for his third consecutive win in net for the Flames, who improved their record to 4-6-0. Andrew Copp scored the only goal for the Red Wings, who lost in regulation for the first time in seven games and fell to 4-4-3. The game was played at the Scotiabank Saddledome where Calgary wore its 2004 tribute jerseys.

Farabee opened the scoring late in the first period, converting a pass from Adam Klapka with a one-timer past Detroit goalie John Gibson. Copp tied the game early in the second, batting a loose puck through Cooley's legs during a scramble in front of the net. The Flames responded with two power-play goals before the period ended to take control of the game. Rookie defenceman Zayne Parekh put Calgary back in front with his first goal of the season, a wrist shot from the point that deflected off Gibson's pad and in. Ryan Strome made it 3-1 shortly after, taking a feed from Morgan Frost and snapping a shot past Gibson. Matvei Gridin added another power-play marker late in the frame, one-timing a Farabee pass to give the Flames a 4-1 lead heading to the third.

Farabee's three-point night extended his points streak to four games, and he now leads the Flames with nine points in 10 contests. Matt Coronato contributed two assists for Calgary, while Gridin also had an assist for a multi-point game. Cooley has stopped 100 of the 104 shots he has faced during his three-game winning streak, improving his personal record to 3-2. The victory was Calgary's first over Detroit since 2022. The Flames' power play was perfect on the night, going 2-for-2 with goals from Parekh and Gridin. Up next: The Flames will look to extend their streak when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
