"Major League Baseball on Thursday announced that Boston Red Sox breakout star pitcher Payton Tolle, two-time World Series Champion Miguel Rojas and MLB All-Star Ernie Clement of the Toronto Blue Jays will serve as World Series Correspondents during the 2026 World Series," MLB said.

Clement will cover Games 3 and 4 when the series shifts to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

"Clement will serve as a correspondent for Games Three and Four when the series shifts to Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, providing player-first coverage and creating content across @MLB’s social media channels," MLB.com wrote.

What will Clement do as a correspondent?

Clement will provide player-first coverage and perspective for MLB Network and its social media channels during the games he covers.

He will create content across all of MLB's social channels.

The role is a departure from last season, when Clement was a key player in the Blue Jays' World Series run.

Who are the other correspondents?

Boston Red Sox starter Payton Tolle and recently retired Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas will also serve as correspondents.

Tolle and Rojas will cover Games 1 and 2 of the series in Milwaukee.

Other prominent players have taken part in the correspondent program in the past, including Mookie Betts, Willy Adames, Vinnie Pasquantino and Luis Arraez.

What was Clement's role in last year's World Series?

In 2025, Clement played in the World Series as his Blue Jays came up short to the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.

He set a post-season record with 30 hits in the process, including 12 in the World Series, one shy of the all-time record.

Clement hit .411 with six doubles in 18 playoff games that year.

He played a key role in the Blue Jays' 2025 World Series run, collecting an MLB record 30 hits.

How did Clement perform in the 2026 season?

Clement represented the Blue Jays in this year's All-Star Game after hitting nearly .300 through July and was voted in as a starter at second base.

He regressed in the second half, finishing the season with a .259 batting average, a .285 on-base percentage, nine home runs and 48 RBI over 158 games.

His season slash line was .259/.285/.364, which translated to an 80 wRC+.

After Bo Bichette signed with the New York Mets, Andres Gimenez moved to shortstop and Clement became the team's starting second baseman.

Garbutt Disposal reported in October that the Blue Jays may consider moving Clement from his everyday role at second base for the 2027 season.

What is Clement's background?

Clement is a 30-year-old native of Rochester, N.Y. who will turn 31 in March.

He is a six-year veteran who began his MLB career in 2021 with Cleveland.

He spent the 2022 season with Cleveland and the Oakland Athletics before joining the Blue Jays in 2023.

Since joining Toronto, Clement has posted 6.5 fWAR with 30 home runs and has hit .270 with the team.

He has played 139 games or more in each of the last three seasons with the Blue Jays.

When does the World Series start?

Game 1 of the World Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday.

The first two games will be at American Family Field in Milwaukee before the series shifts to Tropicana Field.

The game will air on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.

The Rays advanced by defeating Cleveland in six games, while the Blue Jays finished last in the American League East with a disappointing 79-83 record.

Clement's work as a correspondent will begin when the series moves to Florida for Game 3.
